Videos are a great way to more effectively engage and communicate with people.  Adding pictures to audio increases people's retention and in today's fast paced world that is priceless.

All us small business owners need to watch our spending on overhead items. I recently used a great service which I have to rave about... validas (http://www.myvalidas.com). You submit your cell phone bills and they analyze them and suggest changes in plans and coverage to save you $$. They also suggest alternate carriers and model out the potential savings based upon your bills and use. It's quite economical.  Very helpful especially when you have 8 cell phones with greatly differing usage patterns.

If you manage a website you must learn how to use Google's free tools....
Adwords, Analytics, Webmaster tools and their other tools such as calendar and youtube.  They are powerful, well explained and free.

If you are a techie interested in php enabled dynamic websites coupled to MySQL databases, I have found a great free package to recommend. XAMPP installs php and MySQL in a very straight forward installation. Having labored through downloading these two free applications and struggled with setting permissions and connecting them, the team at XAMPP has created a simple yet powerful tool that is a must for open source (LAMP stack) web developers.

It has my highest recommendation. 

I most often do three things with clients:
 1) Teach them how to build effective marketing programs or teach them how to use the marketing automation tools
 2) Consult with clients to conceive of a marketing system  and develop the plan
 3) Execute or implement their marketing system plan


I must confess that while I am in the teacher role, I am am thrilled by the continually learning from my clients I benefit from. Being exposed to dozens of small businesses, I have the benefit of seeing which tactics have been effective and those which aren't.   Every week my tool kit is a bit larger than the week before.


I love the learning but I confess that the most satisfying is the execution. I love developing the checklist and checking all the items off as done. It's almost as much fun as popping bubble wrap.  


When a program is launched, there is the moment of satisfaction... Pride that it is exceeding promises. I always then start thinking about how we can do this better...what needs improvement.  90% of the value, to my experience, is in the tuning of the program after launch. Maybe I don't plan as effectively as others but I sure can adapt, using a measure/modify cycle to obtain the performance we looked for.


I'm curious about other peoples experience. To my experience, planning is important but execution and adaptation are the real keys to success.    

There is a recession on. Now officially. The media prior to the election has been all doom and gloom.
With the election behind us, we will be focused upon the future. We will make that future by imagining it then steadfastly, working step by step to make it.
Even with a recession on, people are buying things. Businesses need to be better at marketing but them must continue to market to their prospective customers.
The winners will be those aggressively who to build their business. Changing times call for using newer and better techniques.  Most of my clients are doing quite well. They are aggressive about building their business and using better techniques.
   

At the suggestion of a client, I decided to add videos to a client's website to improve conversion rates.  We filmed a short 3 minute informative discription of their services. I edited it and uploaded it to YouTube.
I added it to his website and an amazed how easy the entire process is. It makes  it easier for people to understand having works and pictures.

You can see from my website I believe in the value of video to telling your story. I now can tell the story the way I think it should be told. The production values aren't high but it is easy and powerful.

For the past 2 weeks, I struggled with the replacement of my current 80GB hard drive with a new 250 GB Western Digital SATA drive. This computer runs Microsoft Vista.

I purchased Symantec Norton Ghost 14.0.  I'll but I tried everything imaginable to "image" my hard drive and copy it to the new drive.  Amazingly difficult.

After reading a few comments online I decided to try Acronis. (http://www.acronis.com) It was a dream. Worked perfectly, simple straightforward. It has my highest recommendation.
